Dipstick for the dipstick tube that threads into the side of the pan on a Ford, 351. Approximately 19-1/2" long.
Can be used on the 1985 and prior engines but is 1" longer. If the dipstick hits the bottom of the pan, grind or cut off the bottom of the dipstick so it will seat on the tube properly.
For accuracy when changing oil, we put in 3 quarts and mark that low with a scribe or file. Then put in the 4th quart and scribe that as your FULL mark. Then run engine to circulate oil pressure and fill filter. Adjust from there to bring back to FULL mark. Never use more than 5 quarts of oil. The less oil the more horsepower. You don't want to be pushing excess oil around inside the engine.
