* Tech Tips * *All cast iron exhaust parts are painted with primer and it is recommended that you re-paint them with enamel. *Gasket surfaces should be cleaned of paint with acetone or lacquer thinner and installed dry with no sealant. *Stainless steel or grade 2 bolts should not be used. They are too soft. Use grade 5 or better. Anti-seize is not recommended as it can allow the bolts to loosen. *Don't overtighten pipe plugs. They just need to be snug and thread sealant containing teflon is not recommended. *If you are unsure about gasket orientation or have any installation questions, consult your engine manufacturer.
